Who are we?

Treuddyn under 5’s is an exciting and well established playgroup located in the Youth Hall, Ffordd Y Llan, Treuddyn.

When do we meet?

We run sessions every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12.45 to 03:15pm.

Playgroup+ is also held on the same days 11:45 to 12:45.  Playgroup+ is now available for all children registered at the group. The supervisors will collect children from Parc Y Llan school nursery.

The group also runs Toddler sessions every Wednesday from 9.00 to 11.00am in the Youth Hall, where adults can enjoy a coffee a have a chat with other adults while the children play with our large selection of pre-school toys. This is for children aged from birth.

Who can join in?

The playgroup is for children aged 2½+ and early entitlement funded places are available.

What do we do?

At playgroup the children can spend time creating at the workshop table using glue, scissors, tape, pencils, felts, crayons, wood and recycled materials.  Paint at the easel, dress up as their favourite animals or characters, become a fireman, police officer, nurse, doctor, shopkeeper, astronaut, knight, princess and more.

They can build with bricks, Lego, popoids, stickle bricks, play with trains, cars, dolls house, play in the home corner, sit in the book corner and enjoy looking at our wide range of fiction and non-fiction books. They can listen to stories brought alive by puppets, sing, play instruments, dance , run, climb, ride bikes, play with water, sand, play dough,  bake cakes, make their own snacks, grow their own fruit,vegetables and flowers – the list is endless.

As well as playing indoors and outdoors the children learn about different topics such as the weather, seasons, animals, transport, and the community in which they live.  We have many visitors to the group including the local police, doctors, gardeners, teachers and the community librarian. We take part in national events such as Children in Need, World Book Day, and St David’s Day.

We are registered with CSSIW and Estyn. We are members of Wales PPA and have a Quality Assured Accreditation. As a registered charity we are run by a committee of parents who organise many fund raising events including Bingo Nights, Coffee mornings, Discos and Sponsored finds.

Our main language is english but fluent welsh speaking staff encourage welsh to be spoken in each session with the help of Ticw – our welsh speaking bear – the children learn simple everyday words and phrases.
