St. Marys Church

St. Marys Church

We are the Church in Wales, a part of the Anglican Communion here in Treuddyn. The Church is in the local Mission Area of Mold and comes under the care of The Rev’d Carole Poolman who also cares for the parishes of Nercwys and Pontblyddyn. We are within the Archdeaconery of Wrexham, in the Diocese of St.Asaph.

There are many sites available which give valuable information about our Church – try checking out the links from the Church in Wales website. There is also a recently-revised Guide Book, available in Church.

We are here primarily to witness to the joyful worship of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Services are held every Sunday at 9.30 a.m., occasionally there may be mid-week services; this is always noted in advance in the Treuddyn News, or by contact with numbers listed below. Everyone can be sure of a warm welcome – come along to the 9.30am on Sundays and join our worship!

FROM THE NEW PRIEST IN CHARGE OF ST MARY’S CHURCH, TREUDDYN.

On 19th January 2015 The Rt Rev’d Dr Gregory Cameron, Bishop of St Asaph licensed me “The Rev’d Carole Poolman” as Priest in Charge of Treuddyn and Nercwys, I remain Priest in Charge of Pontblyddyn.
For those of you who are curious to know a little bit about me … I live in Llanfynydd and am married to John, who, until his retirement in 2010, was Rector of Llanfynydd. In my younger days I worked as a Residential Social Worker in a Therapeutic Community and later on as a Parish Administrator for my husband. After my ordination in 2001 I went to Christ Church, Pontblyddyn as a Curate, before taking over as Priest in Charge in 2006. I also served as Priest in Charge of Llanfynydd from October 2010 until August 2014. During the course of last year the P.C.C. and Congregation of Llanfynydd Parish decided that they wanted to move into the Mission Area of Hawarden, this move took effect from 1st Sept 2014, at which point my work as their priest in charge ceased.
I am looking forward to getting to know the people of Treuddyn and Nercwys as we work together in our churches and communities. Inevitably I will do some things differently to The Rev’d John Jones who faithfully served the parishes for over 20 years. The changes both for the people of the parishes and for me are going to be many and various. Treuddyn and Nercwys have had, until now, the services of a full time priest, now they will share (with Pontblyddyn) the services of a part-time priest. But this needn’t be “bad news”, for the whole ethos of the Church in Wales is changing. The emphasis is no longer on ‘Priestly Ministry’  or on ‘Single Parishes’, but rather on unlocking the potential of all people in order for the Priests and People of each Mission Area to work together.
At the service on the 19th January in addition to my licensing, The Mission Area of Mold was Commissioned by Bishop Gregory. Our Mission Area is comprised of The Parishes of Mold & New Brighton, Northop with Northop Hall, Cilcain, Gwernaffield, Llanferres, Nannerch & Rhydymwyn, Pontblyddyn, Treuddyn and Nercwys. We have 12 churches, 2 full time priests and 2 part time priests, together with various Readers, Worship Leaders, Pastoral Assistant and others who share their gifts and talents across the whole area.
In future if anyone needs to arrange a baptism or wedding, or to discuss church business please don’t hesitate to get in touch, my contact details are below. Carole.
