Fab fun at Ysgol Parc y Llan

fab sixtiesChildren in years 5 & 6 (Class 4)  at Ysgol Parc Y Llan held events celebrating the end of their work themed around the sixties. They had worked hard with their class teacher Miss Williams and their student teacher Miss O’Keefe and covered many aspects of the sixties including music and fashion of the era.

The children hosted an assembly showing some of their work for the rest of the school and their parents. This included demonstrations of sixties’ dancing to Tom Jones, summaries of the Pop Art movement – in particular Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein – with examples drawn by the children, explanations of the scientific advances made during the sixties – particularly the moon landings – and described the explosion of electrical equipment and gadgets which erupted in the sixties.

The children also turned the school hall into a mini Carnaby Street with an afternoon of fun dressed as sixties trend setters. Food, dancing and games were enjoyed with equal measure and wrapped up the period of work on a colourful note.
