EisteddfodEisteddfod News 2018

On a bright, sunny day the afternoon competitions were very successful as usual. We thank the area’s primary schools for their usual loyalty. We hope the children enjoyed the opportunity to benefit from the experience given to them annually to enhance their talents. In some of the recitation and singing competitions, there were as many as 40 children on stage! What a feast for the audience.

Although not as many competed during the evening, the adjudicators were full of praise for the young competitors – the standard was very high and very promising. In addition to winning a number of competitions, Tegid Goodman Jones from Caerwys, very deservedly won the sum of £100, the committee’s prize for the most promising competitor in the stage competitions.

According to the adjudicator, Aled Lewis Evans, the standard of the literary competitions was very high, with fifteen competing for the Chair from all parts of Wales. The winner was Judith Morris from Aberystwyth. She received a warm welcome from the young attendants and following the flower dance by girls from Ysgol Terrig, Mr Idris Jones read out a special poem to her in recognition of her achievement. Judith Morris was then presented with a model of a chair made by Mr John Parry.
