Neighbourhood Wardens – what is available?

This month Kate Inskip came to the TCC meeting and gave us a very useful overview of the Neighbourhood Wardens service provided by Flintshire County Council.

The wardens work on referrals from police or other agencies to provide care and assistance for people who have been victims of crime or who are deemed to be vulnerable.  You may also contact them direct on 01352 701818 or via the Neighbourhood Watch team.

Target Hardening – this is a service to make people, property or premises more secure. The wardens can offer safety advice or provide & fit equipment such as locks.  If properties are empty or residents temporarily away, eg hospitalised – the wardens can provide additional security if appropriate.

Graffiti and Fly Tipping – this service has now been incorporated into Streetscene, but reports can be made via the Wardens.

Anti Vandal Paint – the wardens can provide and arrange for the application of anti vandal paint which can be an effective deterrent in some instances of anti social behaviour.

Cycle Marking – wardens can attend local functions to mark cycles. The information is recorded centrally by wardens and shared with North Wales Police.  Treuddyn Community Council are taking advantage of this service and we will be holding an event in January where local residents can bring their bikes and scooters to the village hall to be marked, this will hopefully help protect Christmas presents from ‘walking’.  Please watch Treuddyn News, the notice boards or this website for further details nearer the time.

Patrols – the wardens patrol as part of their duties and can target specific areas on request.
