Treuddyn’s iconic red telephone box in Queen Street is to be given a new lease of life in a Community Council led initiative.
The Council has joined forces with the rural development agency Cadwyn Clwyd to give the redundant telephone box, which was due to be removed by BT Payphones, a new use.
The telephone box has been taken on by the Treuddyn Community Council for a nominal sum of £1 from BT who have replaced missing panes and have provided a supply of ‘currant red’ paint so that the outside can be restored. Inside, the telephone box is to become a village/tourist information point and local people are now being asked for their views and ideas about what it should contain.
A public meeting will be held at Treuddyn Village Hall on Wednesday 30 May at 6.30pm when you can bring forward your own ideas and suggestions for the kiosk content. The Community Council is also keen to hear about your memories of using the telephone kiosk in bygone days.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.
