Road Closed – Corwen Road – updated 16:00 14/02/14

road closed

UPDATE : 16:00 14/02/14  We have been advised that the Nant will reopen at approx 16:30 this evening.  FCC Cllr Carolyn Thomas has sent the following update

“Many thanks to the landowner and FCC Streetscene.  Further inspections will continue and there will be a meeting on Monday with Natural Resources Wales regarding inspection of the landslide into the Nant.
I will put updates on my Facebook account and carry on sending messages via twitter if anyone wants to follow me that way.  “

If you’ve tried to go down the A5104 Corwen Road since Wednesday evening you will have seen the Road Closed sign at the Llanfynydd Road junction. FCC advise that this might be closed until Monday to monitor the situation.

The diversion sends you via Llanfynydd & Ffrith.

Access is still available through to Coed Talon & Pontybodkin as the problem area is the Nant (the bendy section) – where further signs of land slippage have observed. If you need to get down to the Mold Road it is still possible to go via Coed Talon, take the Leeswood turn and then go down Constitution Hill to end up by the former New Inn.

UPDATE : I’ve had information that access might be restricted up to Constitution Hill, so the alternative route would be up the Dingle (just past the petrol station), then turn left into Leeswood at the T-junction at the top.

Please take care on the Llanfynydd route as HGVs are being forced to take the diversion and are having to travel very slowly at some of the bottlenecks.
