Road Closed for repairs near Terrig Bridge

road closedA message from Cllr Carolyn Thomas our FCC Cllr.

I have been surprised to receive emails from residents telling me a sign has been put up saying the road will be closed at the Terrig bridge from tomorrow, Thursday for three weeks.
I would have let you all know via the Treuddyn news but did not receive a notification of road closure with Nercwys Road on it and had been hoping that a road closure could have been avoided.  I have spent today speaking to different officers finding out more information.

Work to the structure of the road will be carried out from underneath but a road closure has been unavoidable as the damage is substantial and the road too weak.

School transportation have been extremely busy today making alternative arrangements for transport to schools and colleges and informing parents and bus operators.  They had hoped to keep the road permissible for school transport but it would be too dangerous.

The regular bus service will collect from the village and then turn at the cross roads of Ffordd y Rhos and Ffordd Nercwys then travel to Mold along the Corwen Road.

The repointing of the Terrig bridge which has been outstanding for a while will also start tomorrow as the lack of traffic will make it safer for them to carry out the work.

The official, legal notice is for 8 weeks but it is hoped that the closure will be for two weeks and then it will revert to one lane while other work is carried out from below.
The diversion route will probably be through Treuddyn village and along the Corwen road because the alternative lanes are too winding with not enough passing points.”
